Nádasdy Ferenc Museum in Sárvár has created a web2.0 surface on its website www.sarvaranno.hu with the aim of collecting knowledge about the past of Sárvár with the contribution of the users.

Nádasdy Ferenc Museum in Sárvár has created a web2.0 surface on its website www.sarvaranno.hu with the aim of collecting knowledge about the past of Sárvár with the contribution of the users. On the one hand the site continuously issues the photo collection of the Nádasdy Ferenc Museum in the professional selection of the employees of the museum; on the other hand it makes the visitors comments available with professional checking, and also allows them to upload their photos with source values and comments, aadding their own stories, memories to them. The objective of the activity is to create a database on the internet that widens the professional knowledge of not only the museum in Sárvár, but it also strengthens the local identity by the wider knowledge of its objects.

All registered users have the right to upload an unlimited number of photos. The site asks for the basic data when uploading a photo (name of the photographer, the date the photo was taken, the people in the photo, the personal memory, history, etc.). Even if the uploader does not supply any data the system accepts the photo. In this case the operator tries to research some data based on the photo itself to increase traceability.

The newest feature of the website is the possibility for linking. Each data unit attached to the photo acts as a link, and as a result the user can surf not only inside the website, but outside as well, according to individual interest, curiosity and mood. The following features can be linked: the photographer, people (there are two categories: citizens of Sárvár and famous visitors of Sárvár), events, buildings, public spaces. The labels contain such general categories that help the registration to wider topics, and which is even more important regarding the website, it supports the searches.

All users are free to provide additional data to existing photos, which serves as the forum for the website. Both the newest uploads and the newest comments appear at the side panel of the website.

The good practice brings explores and increases the role of the museum as a community and education hub, and helps the town maintain, protect and share its history and traditions.
