Mobile Municipality Jyväskylä is a free mobile application, used in Jyväskylä since 2012. With the app one can check the latest news, browse upcoming events and easily find the contact information of the local public services. The app users can also send feedback and service requests to the city officials. The application is available worldwide.

Mikael Ratschinskij, Web Communications Manager, sees the mobile municipality Jyväskylä as a mobile communication tool, which can improve the communication of the municipality and links the web communication to the mobile communication. ‘The use of Internet has recently shifted in to mobile devices, used with special applications. This has been a good way for us to try what kind of a service suits us best. In a way the Mobile Municipality Jyväskylä is an assortment of the services that the municipality provides online - in a compact format’, continues Mikael Ratschinskij.

The mobile tool can be a way to improve services of the city: for example the feedback possibilities might increase the security of the citizens. This communitarian tool is also one solution to improve the visibility of the activities and decision making of the city for customers.

In the application it is possible to have the following functionalities

- News: latest news from your municipality to your mobile phone

- Events: latest events of the municipality, route directions to the events etc.

- Services:  easy access to some of the most used services of the city

- Weather: local weather

- Activities: information on activities and free-time possibilities in the municipality

- Mobile feedback and error notes:  It is possible to send notes and pictures from the spot to the municipality for example on objects needed to be fixed:  pictures of broken street lights etc.

- Development:  possibility to send feedback and development ideas to the municipality
